Rockville Center Urban Design and Courthouse Square Park - Rockville, MD

This project creates a new, vital downtown for Rockville. HOK has developed a plan which replaces a mega block mall and windswept plazas with the recreation of gridded streets, new building massings, market-driven mixed-use development, and open spaces.
Jury Comments:
- Very lofty goals generally achieved
- Clear definition of next evolutionary step of planning process (removing megablocks)
- Bold move to put streets back
- Seems to be strong and significant role for the Landscape Landscape Architect
