War Memorial Plaza - Baltimore, MD

So named for the 1769 Marylanders who died in World War I, this plaza is located adjacent to City Hall in downtown Baltimore. The intention of the project is to restore the plaza as an important 'front yard' to City Hall, to maintain the spirit of the memorial and to achieve a series of practical environmental objectives surrounding imperviousness and use of materials.
Jury Comments:
- Achieved a lot with budget constraints
- Designer used excellent strategies to encourage people to come
- Very much in the flavor of Bryant Park; jury hopes for the same success
