2018 Merit Award Winners, Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc., exhibited excellent Analysis, Planning, and Urban Design in their Crystal City to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Pedestrian Connection Feasibility Study (CC2DCA) in Arlington, Virginia. Connected, safe, and enjoyable access is key to a thriving urban environment. The CC2DCA project embodies this mission, offering the potential to create a vibrant environment unlike any other in the US through a new link. A well-designed and integrated connection will generate long-term economic sustainability; provide a transit hub; celebrate cultural and historical resources; and reduce automobile trips and congestion at the Airport by connecting the nearly 20M annual Airport passengers to 11M SF of office space, and 3,500 hotel rooms through a short walk.
